This is a Biology Department animal housing facility for zebrafish. The participating users are assigned tank space, and this space may fluctuate depending on user needs and available space. Users are expected to contribute labor toward the daily operation of the facility in terms of husbandry (care & feeding) of the entire fish population, as well as daily system maintenence, and oversight of daily water and system parameters. They must also contribute to the recharge system for the financial needs of the facility, which is calculated based on individual fish population. Fish population is tracked using a database specifically created for this use and all fish in the facility must be entered into this database. All users must follow facility and PACUC rules regarding training and documentation to work independently in the fish facility, and must provide a photo and contact information (phone and email). Independent work in this facility is not allowed until individuals have been approved by the facility manager. Anyone not fully trained and documented must be accompanied by an approved user at all times.
