Bioinformatics Core

Overview of Services

The vision of the Bioinformatics Core is to facilitate, amplify, and accelerate biological research and discovery through application of bioinformatics. We deliver high quality analysis in a timely and economical manner. We will be responsive to customer needs and evolve with advances in the field. We have been actively engaged in and seeking out opportunities to advance the educational mission of the University.

We provide assistance in analyzing next generation sequencing data, including de novo assembly, annotation, mapping to reference genome, SNP detection, smallRNA, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, Metagenomic and Metatranscriptomic and Phylogenomic analyses. We have the hardware and software in place to assemble, align, and annotate transcriptomes and genomes using reads from Illumina sequencing platform.

The Bioinformatics Core also provides consultation and advice for project design and development, training through workshops and seminars. We maintain several software packages on RCAC cluster that can be used by anyone on the campus with access to RCAC computing nodes.
